Rogate Race Information

Gravity Project Honey Series Round 1, Rogate 2nd April 2017. Back to a classic! Race number one for 2017 is at one of everyone's favourite winter riding spots. The famous sandy soil and a sunny forecast should make for a great day's racing.

The Venue

No introduction needed! Known by everyone who rides in the south and if somehow it's passed you by check the infamous Rogate Downhill here: Rogate Downhill. It's open all year and is a great place to get your riding skills dialled in.

Standard Rogate race day procedure applies so NO PARKING ALONG THE ROAD at the bottom and side of the site. The parking will be at the top of the site in the seed plantation. Access is via the forestry gate at the very top of the hill. See the map in the location section below, also don't rely on you sat nav, the nearest postcode GU31 5DL will get you about 1/2 a mile away!

The Course

The course will be similar to last year's starting out on the GP line up top, cutting across the hill, but this year it will be finishing into Main Line. Top times are likely to be under 1 minute.
We will do our best to get a video posted up once the course has been set on Saturday night, but in the mean time check out this race video from our friends at Get into Gravity of our 2014 Rogate race.

Rider Info

This is a push up event with no uplift service, the main push up for the race will be the one that runs straight up the lower section of the hill and use the normal push up above the fire road. The idea being not to cross the track unless absolutely necessary, meaning fewer course interruptions and more riding time.

On Sunday the venue has parking for 100+ cars, on site catering and toilets. As always, the fire road that crosses the track halfway down is a public bridleway that we have no permission to obstruct. The crossing point will be marshalled but please be considerate to the bridleway users and be especially aware of any horses that might get spooked.

Full face helmets only and we strongly recommend knee pads and gloves as a minimum.

Bikes must be of a safe condition in the eyes of the British Cycling Commissaries; two working brakes and handlebar end caps are a minimum.

 Saturday 1st April

There is no formal practice on Saturday but the hill will be open as normal for riding until 16:00. At which time the whole hill will be closed to riders and we will be on course taping the track and setting up for racing. If you are riding on Saturday please co-operate with us and the Rogate committee to ensue this can be done safely.
